Les Mées (pronounced [le me] or [le mɛs]), in Provençal Lei Mèas, is a French commune situated in the département of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
A little history
The locality appears for the first time in charters in the 11th century, as Metas and Las Medas in 1098. The abbaye Saint-Victor de Marseille possessed there, in the 11th century, the prieuré Saint-Antoine. The abbaye de Boscodon possessed there the prieuré de Paillerols from the 12th century onwards. After the 15th century, the monks were no longer present there, and the prieuré was converted into a farming estate.
