Le Val d'Hazey is a French commune located in the département of Eure in the Normandie region. It was created as a commune nouvelle on 1 January 2016 through the merger of Aubevoye, Sainte-Barbe-sur-Gaillon and Vieux-Villez.
A little history
The commune nouvelle was created on 1 January 2016 from the merger of three communes, Aubevoye, Sainte-Barbe-sur-Gaillon and Vieux-Villez, despite the opposition of five municipal councillors from Vieux-Villez, which has eleven. They were behind the creation of the association Préservons nos campagnes, which sought the cancellation of the creation of the commune nouvelle before the tribunal administratif de Rouen, which rejected this request in October 2017. The association appealed before the cour administrative d'appel de Douai, which on 27 June 2019 annulled that judgement on procedural grounds, noting the absence of consultation of the joint staff bodies.
