It was created on 1 January 2016 with the status of commune nouvelle, resulting from the merger of Gouville-sur-Mer and Boisroger, subsequently expanded in 2019 to include the territories of Anneville-sur-Mer, Montsurvent and Servigny.

The history of Gouville-sur-Mer is that of the two communes from which it originates. During 2015, the communes of Gouville-sur-Mer (commune déléguée) and Boisroger decided to create a commune nouvelle named Gouville-sur-Mer, which came into being on 1 January 2016. The prefectoral order setting out the conditions was published on 4 November 2015. In July 2018, a project to extend the commune nouvelle was launched with Montsurvent, Servigny and Anneville-sur-Mer. The choice of the future intercommunalité was also raised.
