Gavray-sur-Sienne is a French commune situated in the Manche department in the Normandie region, with a population of 2,047 inhabitants. It was created on 1 January 2019 under the status of commune nouvelle following the merger of Gavray, Le Mesnil-Amand, Le Mesnil-Rogues and Sourdeval-les-Bois.
A little history
The history of the commune is that of the former merged communes. In April 2018, the mayor of Le Mesnil-Amand relaunched a project for communes nouvelles involving all the communes of the former canton of Gavray and, one month later, five communes decided to draw up the operational charter of the commune nouvelle bringing together Gavray, Le Mesnil-Amand, Le Mesnil-Rogues and Sourdeval-les-Bois and La Baleine. The commune of La Baleine was present at the start of the discussions but the project was rejected by its municipal council.
