Gasny [ɡani] is a French commune situated in the département of Eure in the Normandie region. Its residents are known as Ganytois. The name of the town is pronounced « Gâny » [gɑni], in keeping with its etymology.
A little history
Écos is said to have been, on an 11th of October in the 3rd century of our era, the site of the martyrdom of Saint Nicaise, Saint Quirin, a priest, and Saint Scuvicule, a deacon, who are regarded as the first apostles of Normandy. When their heads fell beneath the executioner's blade, Sisinnius Fescennius, the Roman governor of the province, ordered that their bodies be abandoned to birds of prey, dogs and wild beasts, to serve as their food.
