A little history
It is estimated that the founding of Franqueville-Saint-Pierre dates back to the 10th century. In 949, Osmond de Centville, Vicomte de Vernon, was rewarded by the Duke of Normandie Richard Ier de Normandie, known as Sans Peur, for having freed the latter, who had been taken prisoner by King Louis IV d'Outremer at Laon. He received lands that the duke held to the east of Rouen. These lands became an alleu, that is to say a domain free of all dues (franchae villualae). The vicomte de Vernon then decided to divide this domain between his two sons.
