A little history
In 596 the ruling of saint Aunaire, 18th bishop of Auxerre (572-605), included Courçon among the thirty principal parishes of the diocese. The town is home to the remains of a feudal château that belonged to the counts of Nevers and Auxerre. It was at Courson-les-Carrières that Pierre II de Courtenay received, in 1216, the ambassadors who brought him the imperial crown of Constantinople.
