A little history
Few elements emerge before 1300. A path leads to Auxerre. Brienon appears to fall under the county of Joigny, but forms with Bellechaume and Bligny a group of holdings belonging to the archbishops of Sens, who themselves lived within the royal domain. Saint Loup, 19th archbishop of Sens and a native of Brienon, which belonged to his parents, founded the church of Saint-Martin there.
