A little history
The old church of Bréhal was deliberately destroyed in the 19th century and replaced by a larger building. In the Middle Ages, the church of Bréhal was under the authority of the abbaye de Hambye, a notable medieval site, and the monks of the Mont-Saint-Michel also held rights there, particularly over the marshes. It was Foulques Paynel who gave Bréhal to the abbey. One of the lords of Bréhal fought at Hastings in 1066.
