The communes of Gourfaleur, La Mancellière-sur-Vire, Saint-Romphaire and Saint-Samson-de-Bonfossé became communes déléguées.

The commune was created on 1 January 2016 by a prefectural order of 4 December 2015, through the merger of four communes, under the legal framework of communes nouvelles established by law no 2010-1563 of 16 December 2010 on the reform of local authorities. The communes of Gourfaleur, La Mancellière-sur-Vire, Saint-Romphaire and Saint-Samson-de-Bonfossé became communes déléguées and Saint-Samson-de-Bonfossé is the chef-lieu of the commune nouvelle.
