A little history
Only one bank was developed for towpaths, as the left bank of the Seine was prone to flooding and therefore often marshy, leaving river workers with no choice but to pass through Amfreville-la-Mi-Voie. Formerly an industrial commune (factory producing alum or lead nitrate, foundry, and so on) and the birthplace of river boating (shipyards), Amfreville now has only two companies. These are Tréfimétaux, which became Pirelli then Prysmian, specialising in the manufacture of cables, and Eureka, a leader in second-hand and vintage clothing, established in the former Keittinger factory (postcard), which had in the meantime become Patis France.
