Situated in the north of Essonne and bordering the Hauts-de-Seine, Verrières is only ten kilometres south-west of Paris and is sociologically close to the communes of the first ring. Verrières-le-Buisson, which is today known to Parisians for the forêt de Verrières and the rural character of the vallée de la Bièvre, was already frequented in the 18th century by the kings of France for their hunting pursuits.
