A little history
The domain of Uxegney (Ursiniaco, precisely A de ursiniaco) is attested as early as the 10th century in a charter of the temporal possessions of the chapter of the abbaye de Remiremont. In the diplomatic records of Lorraine, in 1033, the mention in finibus ursiniaci ville alludes to the boundaries of the domain. Dom Calmet in his Histoire de Lorraine states that ancient texts mention apud ursiniacum in 1147 and that a cacography as Ursuanum was frequent.
