From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune forms part of the Minervois, a land of low hills stretching from the Cabardès to the west, to the Biterrois to the east, and from the Montagne Noire to the north, as far as the river Aude to the south. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Argent-Double, the Rascas, the ruisseau de Canet, the ruisseau de Naval, the ruisseau de Saint-Julien and various other small watercourses.
