A little history
Plombières was, as early as the 5th century BC, the site of a Celtic settlement. The Romans, during the conquest of Gaul, discovered hot water springs there and founded the spa town more than 2,000 years ago. Legend has it that the legions of Jules César's lieutenant, Titus Labienus, who were heading north via what is now Franche-Comté, in 51 BC, stopped near Plombières.
