A little history
The earliest traces of human presence in the commune date from the Magdalenian period at the lieu-dit le Trou-léger. At the lieu-dit les Bolards, situated to the south-east of Nuits-Saint-Georges, a Roman town was discovered. This site, located in the vicinity of numerous thoroughfares, has been known since the 17th century. As early as 1836, development works revealed a vast collection of funerary artefacts. Antique enthusiasts and local landowners subsequently undertook their own excavations of the site during the first half of the 20th century.
