Noyers (pronounced Noyère) is a French commune situated in the département of Yonne in the région of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It is often called Noyers-sur-Serein, and sometimes Noyers-en-Bourgogne. The commune has been awarded a place among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
A little history
At the lieu-dit Milosiotte there is an archaeological site from the late Bronze Age III. During the Gaulish period, the village was situated on the borders of the territories of the Lingons, Aulerques Brannovices and Éduens. Following the Roman conquest, aerial photographs attest to the presence of Romans on the site. In the Middle Ages, Noyers belonged to a powerful family.
