Morsang-sur-Orge (pronounced [mɔʁsɑ̃ syʁ ɔʁʒ]) is a French commune situated in the département de l'Essonne in the Île-de-France region. A village dependent on the abbaye Saint Magloire de Paris around the year one thousand, it became a seigneury of various Parisian bourgeois. From the twentieth century onwards the commune developed with millstone quarrying and the construction of bourgeois residences, followed by the development of the former forêt de Séquigny into housing plots, giving it its current character as a residential suburb to the south of the capital.
