A little history
The commune was formed from the grouping of the communes of Aillant-sur-Tholon, Volgré, Champvallon and Villiers-sur-Tholon, which became délégated communes on 1 January 2017. Its chef-lieu is located at Aillant-sur-Tholon. François Harlay de Champvallon became Archbishop of Paris in 1671. He blessed the morganatic marriage of Louis XIV and Madame de Maintenon.
