Le Croisic (prononcé) is a commune in historic Brittany, situated in the département of Loire-Atlantique in the Pays de la Loire region. Located on a granitic island that remained separated from that of Batz-sur-Mer and from the mainland until the 9th century, it now forms part of the wild coast of the Guérande peninsula. With the exception of the narrow isthmus that links it to Batz-sur-Mer to the south-east, the territory of the commune is surrounded by water, alternating beaches and cliffs exposed to the Atlantic Ocean with a harbour protected by the jetée du Tréhic and opening onto the traict.
