Its inhabitants are called the Jonzacais and Jonzacaises. Bathed by the Seugne, which flows through it in a meander, the town originally developed on two hills on the right bank, the monts Balaguier and Montguimar, where its two principal monuments stand, the église Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais and the château, one of whose towers serves as a belfry and is visible from afar.
