A little history
Granges-Aumontzey arose from the merging of the two communes of Granges-sur-Vologne and Aumontzey, members of the canton de Gérardmer. This merger officially formalised, at an administrative level, the ties that had historically united the two communes since the 19th century and the rise of the textile industry on the banks of the Vologne.
