From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune forms part of the Razès, a historically vast pays which today encompasses only the hills of the Malepère and the bas Razès in the centre and south, bounded by the pays de Sault. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Aude, the ruisseau de Fa, the ruisseau de Couleurs, the ruisseau de Granès and two other watercourses.
