A little history
Darney is built on the slopes of a promontory overlooking the valley of the Saône. A fortified town in the Middle Ages, flanked by towers and two fortified gates, it is known as the "cité aux trente tours". It is to the duke Thiébaud II de Lorraine that the parish church of 1308 is owed. The town was destroyed in the Middle Ages and the cité was dismantled in 1634.
