Corcieux ([kɔʁsjø], in Vosgien de la montagne [kɔʁsyː]) is a commune in north-east France, chef-lieu de canton of the département des Vosges in the arrondissement de Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, in the région Grand Est. Its inhabitants are called les Forfelets.
A little history
It was already a large market town in 1246. The doyenné de Corcieux, according to the statistique des Vosges published by Charton in 1837, comprises the villages of Corcieux, Bellegoutte, Les Cours, Mariémont, La Nolneuve, Thiriville, La Houssière and La Côte. It was under the jurisdiction of the duc de Lorraine and the imperial church of the chanoinesses de Remiremont. The duc was the sole high justice authority.
