A little history
Middle Ages. Clères was built in the 9th century around a castle keep, the remains of which are visible in the immediate vicinity of the current château, at the heart of the parc zoologique de Clères. Previously, the population was spread across the plateaux in scattered hamlets, la Houssiette, les Marettes, le Mouchel and le Bois Hébert. Le Tôt and Cordelleville were formerly parishes and then communes, each possessing a church and cemetery that still exist to this day. It was not until 1823 that they were united with Clères.
