A little history
Archaeological excavations are the only sources that allow us to confirm that Chaumousey has a history predating its abbey, as two Gaulish tumuli have been found. Otherwise, the history of Chaumousey is intimately linked to that of the abbaye de Chaumousey, which was founded in 1091 by Séhère. The latter was appointed abbot two years later by the bishop of Toul, Pibon. Over the centuries, the abbey became attractive to many people and acquired a significant number of assets, obtained through donations.
