A little history
As early as 1006, Barentin made itself known and remarked upon for its economic activities. A branch of the seigneurs de Barentin produced political figures in Jersey during the Middle Ages, notably two namesakes known as Drouet de Barentin. In 1846, the viaduc de Barentin collapsed. From the Middle Ages to the present day, mills, paper mills, spinning mills and then high technology have shaped the development of the town.
