Scattered archaeological remains attest to a human presence on the territory of Veigné since the Palaeolithic, but it is not until the Carolingian period that Veigné is mentioned in written sources. Around 1550, a notable event took place. The parish of Montbazon was created and its territory of just over 600 ha was taken from that of Veigné.
