A little history
The parish of Rivière-Salée was founded in 1716, as the inhabitants could only attend mass at Trois-Ilets or at Trou-au-Chat (Ducos). At that time, several families were spread across various habitations. The church was built on land donated by a certain Duval and the parish was entrusted to the Capuchins. On 12 June 1737, Martinique was divided into communes.
