A little history
Le Robert sits between the Atlantic coast, whose bay is dotted with a fine number of islets, and the hamlet of Vert-Pré on higher ground, which forms a village in its own right. This magnificent natural harbour witnessed battles in which the English were repelled by the local population, made up of privateers and fishing sailors hardened by their coastal life among the mangroves, the rocks and the ocean. The parish was founded by Père Labat in 1694, and was called Cul-de-Sac. The origin of the current name is uncertain.
