La Clusaz (pronounced [la klyza], as the -az is not traditionally pronounced) is a French commune situated in the département of Haute-Savoie, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Its inhabitants are known as the Cluses or the Chaves in Arpitan. The ski resort of the commune was born with pioneers in 1907, but its growth was firmly established from 1955 onwards with the construction of a téléphérique.
