Lillebonne [lil(ə)bɔn(ə)] is a French commune situated in the département of Seine-Maritime, in the Normandie region. Lillebonne, known by its Latin name Juliobona, was the chef-lieu (the administrative capital) of the cité des Calètes during the Roman period, a territory whose boundaries followed those of the Gaulish people of the Calètes and which corresponds approximately to the present-day pays de Caux. The bulk of the ancient town lies today beneath the town centre of Lillebonne, but remarkable remains are still visible, including an ancient theatre.
