It is part of the canton d'Athis-Mons and the Métropole du Grand Paris. First a Gaulish encampment described by Jules César in his commentaries on the Gallic Wars, Juvisy became a royal staging post and then the first post relay on the road to Fontainebleau, the future route nationale 7.
